Cello Basin Reserve Gets CCTV Upgrade

Cello Basin Reserve Gets CCTV Upgrade

CCTV Upgrade

The Cello Basin Reserve is now part of the Wellington City Council Safe City CCTV system, which is a Council-led initiative, strongly supported through their partnership with the Wellington Central Police.

Our use of CCTV cameras aims to continue to make the Basin safe through activities that target and prevent crime and public disorder, ensure efficient responses, and increase public safety.

The CCTV system also makes it possible for us to gather information on non-police issues such as rough sleeping and property damage.

The Council’s highly trained Camerabase staff keep their eyes peeled 24/7 for any incidents or situations arising where people may be at risk, and work with Police, outreach services and other partners to ensure a speedy and appropriate response

All monitoring and use of footage is carried out in accordance with the Privacy Act (2020).

Anonymised data will be collected to assist with immediate responses and to help with evidence-based planning to improve safety and wellbeing.
